POSITION SUMMARY

To provide patient care, assessment, monitoring, education and pain management.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training: 

  1. Eared a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university. 
  2. Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  3. Minimum of one-year medical-surgical nursing experience.
  4. Must respond to hospital within thirty minutes for “on call” requirements.
  5. ACLS within 6 months of hire.
  6. BLS within 90 days of hire.

          

Workplace Experience: 

1-year critical care

 

Equipment and Skills Training: 

Ability to operate physiologic monitoring equipment, replay sequences on radiology equipment, Meditech computer system, I.V. pumps, and other patient monitoring tools. Knowledge of medications and their administration.

 

Physical Environment: 

Hospital setting, sterile patient testing room(s).

 

Physical Effort: 

  1. Communicates clearly, both verbally and in writing
  2. Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping and lifting (50 lbs.)
  3. Ability to transport patients on stretchers, or in beds up to 250 lbs. dependently or independently.
  4. Make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations

 

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. Correctly enters information in patient monitoring system.
  2. Prepares patient for procedure. 
  3. Shaves correct site
  4. Reviews patient chart for H&P, Lab results, and other pertinent information.
  5. Explains procedure when necessary
  6. Educates patient, post procedural care
  7. Facilitates staff development.
  8. Monitors patient prior to, during and post procedure.
  9. Handles/ transports/ stores/ prepares/ administers medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  10. Documents accurately and timely
  11. Ability to locate needed supplies in a timely manner.
  12. Communicates with physician(s) and other team members.
  13. Ability to reproduce exam on CD/film.
  14. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time.
  15. Completes duties before leaving and is willing to work over or cover shifts when workload/shortage dictates.
  16. Working environment is clean, organized, well stocked, and free of clutter.
  17. To provide patient care, assessment, monitoring, education and pain management.
