POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
High school diploma or equivalent   

Workplace Experience:
Patient Care Delivery

Equipment and Skills Training:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
Experience in health care setting preferred
Knowledge and ability to use electronic medical record (EMR) systems

Physical Environment:
Responsible for assisting physicians and team with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks
Rooms patients, obtains and documents vital signs, obtain medical history
Aid with movement and placement of patients.
Order appropriate x-rays delegated by nursing staff or physician
Order Physical Therapy, MRI, CT scan- delegated by nursing staff or physician 
Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and fully stocked

Physical Effort:
Must be able to sit, stand, communicate, in English, both orally and in writing and lift over 20 pounds.


PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. Accurately records patient’s medical history and vital signs, medications. Documents patient care, education, and results in EMR.
  2. Keeps exam rooms stocked and clean; notifies materials management when supplies are low.
  3. Coordinates referrals to other medical services such as MRIs, procedures, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc. Secures consultations and specialists when indicated.
  4. Assists physician with med/surg procedures
  5. Observes universal precautions. Adheres to departmental policies related to safety and biohazard waste.
  6. Observes proper lifting techniques to prevent injury
  7. Keep patient’s rooms clean, orderly, and fully stocked
  8. Aid with movement and placement of patients
  9. Proficient in entering billing, orders and other relevant patient information in EMR.
  10. Works well in a team environment; eager to help others and covers other clinics when indicated.
  11. Reviews upcoming appointments in advance, ensuring test results and necessary information required for patient visit is available. 
  12. Participates in activities that improve department effectiveness, processes, communication, and/or image in the organization. This includes attending 75% of all staff / departmental meetings.
