Position Summary

To lead, direct and evaluate the delivery of care provided and to ensure that the provision of care is effective, safe and consistent with department standards and purposes.  

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training:    
1. Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
2. Earned a rehab services discipline (PT, OT, Speech) diploma or degree from a college or university. 
3. Bachelor’s Degree required or must be obtained within 4 years of date of hire
4. At least three years of experience Rehabilitation services in an acute care facility
5. Demonstrates leadership abilities and positive communication skills
6. Attains certification/course requirements for specialty within defined time frame per WMC policy

Workplace Experience:
Patient Care Delivery
 

Equipment and Skills Training:
Meditech computer, PC, copier and fax, standard patient care equipment for services provided

Physical Environment:
Rehabilitation Inpatient and Outpatient care.

Physical Effort:
1.  Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
2.  Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day.
3.  Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
4.  Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.

Performance Standards:

1.    Organizes, directs, and administers services in order to provide the level of care required by current medical and respiratory standards and to meet continuous department operations.        
2.    Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement of patient care delivery and patient safety activities. Collaborates in developing, implementing reviewing, revising, and monitoring performance improvement activities.        
3.    Communicates with Administration on the activities /issues of Services.  Gives accurate information.        
4.    Participates in policy decisions that affect services.  Develops, revises, and implements policies and procedures.        
5.    Collaborates in planning the yearly budget by utilizing input from the physicians and staff for requirements for personnel, supplies, and equipment.         
6.    Practices cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved budget.  Initiates corrective action for variance.        
7.    Directs the coordination of the employee selection process, training and staff development, work assignments, performance competencies, merit evaluations.       
8.    Coordinates and monitors all aspects of staffing to meet objectives in relation to productivity and budgetary expectations.  Makes necessary adjustments to meet goals.    
9.    Ensures professional relationships are maintained at all times with all customers served; patients/families/healthcare professionals/other interested groups in the community.           
10.    Participates and communicates hospital wide process improvement activities.        
11.    Participates with other Healthcare Team to coordinate compliance with JCAHO standards.    
12.    Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communication
