POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality ultrasound procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment. Perform lead sonographer and lead x-ray duties in outpatient setting.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
Earned an Ultrasound diploma or degree from a college or university and graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology program. May be registered in OB/GYN, abdomen, breast, and vascular as well as ARRT registered or registry eligible.
BLS required within in 90 days of hire. 

Workplace Experience:
Preference of at least one year of work experience after graduation and accreditation.

Equipment and Skills Training:
Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Health.

Physical Environment:
Multi-modality imaging department that provides general Sonography, OB/GYN, Abdominal, Vascular and Pelvic ultrasound studies as well as performs Diagnostic Radiography. 

Physical Effort:
Sonographers must possess the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include physical manipulation and operation of equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs to stretchers; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians. 


PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
  2. Communicates potential or existing problems/opportunities to improve quality of care or services.
  3. Working environment is clean, organized, well stocked, and free of clutter.
  4. Attendance-Performs within Williamson Health attendance guidelines. Minimizes unscheduled absences and gives proper notice for scheduled PTO.
  5. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime, making good use of time.
  6. Implements new departmental procedures readily and without delay.
  7. Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed. Willingness to alter schedules.
  8. Efficiency- Consistently performs an adequate procedure volume in comparison to peers. (Work-load distribution)
  9. Performs high quality studies consistently and follows Pre-determined standards and procedures for all ultrasound studies. 
  10. Teamwork: Communicates and follows through with fellow employees to ensure that all requests from physicians and patients are completed and offers assistance when needed.
  11. Explains procedure to patient prior to performing the exam to allow opportunities for questions/concerns. 
  12. Utilizes knowledge of anatomy and disease processes to accurately communicate patient pathology to Radiologists and does so in a professional manner
