Position Summary:
The Project Manager will work in the Information Systems department to provide coordination and management of project activities to meet the institution’s patient care and strategic objectives, and work with all departments throughout the hospital to provide PM support for multiple projects and monitor their progress from start to completion.

Position Requirements:
Formal Education / Training:
Four year college degree (BA/BS) required.  Additional project management knowledge and/or education considered a plus.  

Workplace Experience:
At least five years of experience in a community hospital or health system as a manager and/or clinical project manager level required.    Prior leadership of hospital-wide EMR projects required. Working knowledge of Health Care Information Systems, clinical and non-clinical areas of the health care delivery system, and hospital operations are preferred.  Knowledge of project management software and other database reporting tools or software will also be beneficial.

Equipment and Skills Training:
Familiar with computers, telephony, and other peripheral devices.  Skills include: good typing skills, organization and management of multiple projects and people in order to meet deadlines, and communication (both verbal and written) with vendors, users and department and/or hospital employees.

Physical Environment:
Familiar with office setting and all areas pertinent to the position.

Physical Effort:
Requires movement around entire hospital campus, viewing computer screens for long periods of time, attend meetings and typing.

Key Results:
Manage and monitor project progress from planning to support phase.
Effectively build and maintain relationships with vendors and other departments involved in project activities.
Develop detailed scope documentation for all assigned projects and actively manage projects to the defined scope.
Coordinate and participate in interdepartmental meetings providing a forum to identify and resolve issues related to the project's design and development.
Ensure all project documentation (including workflow diagrams) is current and consistent with the policies of the department.
Monitor the status of any design changes, and testing of any pertinent software, reports, forms, etc. as completed on the active project Monitor the correctness and completeness of work submitted by others for the project.
Identify, document, and assist in the resolution of issues and change requests that arise during the project's design and/or implementation.
Work with all appropriate employees to ensure a smooth transition of projects (from implementation into production/support).
Develop and/or maintain project records, including but not limited to project charter, scope statement, issues log, work plan, roles and responsibilities matrix, and communication plan.
Publish weekly status report, identifying upcoming tasks and identifying project risks.
Minimize disruption to operations through effective planning, testing, risk mitigation, and team communication.
Enhances department and organizations reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to the organization.
