Position Requirements
Formal Education / Training:
1.  High School diploma.
2.  Medical terminology or experience in health care related field preferred.

Workplace Experience:
Perioperative Care

Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently.   Standard patient care equipment for services provided. Network computer system, Meditech Computer System.

Physical Environment:
A Surgery Unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age.

Physical Effort:
1. Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
2. Able to sit for up to twelve hours a day.
3. Able to work at computer station for up to twelve hours.

Responsibilities
1. Schedules cases accurately.
2. Communicates changes in schedule to the OR Desk.
3. Reviews patient charges, makes inquiries regarding discrepancies or missing charges.
4. Enters patient charges accurately and completely.
5. Reviews patient documentation, makes inquiries regarding discrepancies or missing documentation.
6. Documents accurately and timely and verifies cases.
7. Assist in process for tissue tracking according to Joint Commission standards.
8. Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.
9. Uses critical thinking skills to coordinate activities in the scheduling area, identifies issues and makes recommendations for improvement and efficiency.   
10. Assist with training of new hires. 
11. Collaborates with appropriate health care team members to help coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
12. Maintains work environment and organizes unit.
