POSITION SUMMARY
Promotes and maintains health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training and requirements of the job:
1.    Earned a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner diploma or degree from a college or university. 
2.    Curntly licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
3.    Individually evaluate and treat patients across the lifespan presenting with acute and chronic orthopedic conditions
4.    Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections/aspirations; suturing; reduction of joint dislocations and fractures; managing wounds and infections 
5.    Splint or cast patients with injuries requiring immobilization and provide appropriate DME when applicable

Workplace Experience:
At least one year of orthopaedic experience required. Experience working in an orthopaedic urgent care or after-hours injury clinic preferred. 
  
Equipment and Skills Training: 
Competent in the use of standard medical office/hospital equipment and medical supplies including computers with appropriate EMR/EHR, medical software, facsimile machines, copying machines and telephones.
Physical Environment:
Orthopedic urgent care.
Physical Effort:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, sit at a desk and communicate, in English, both verbally and in written form. 

KEY RESULTS
1.    Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating medical histories
2.    Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results
3    Interprets and correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and establish a working diagnosis
4    Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans, monitors effectiveness of plan and makes modifications.
5    Exercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising orthopaedic surgeon or other health care professionals
6    Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors
7.    Maintains and reviews patients’ records, charts, and other pertinent information accurately and efficiently
8    Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections; suturing; reduction of joint dislocations; fracture reduction; managing wounds and infections. 
9    Appropriately casts or splints patients for injuries requiring immobilization and recommends appropriate DME. 
10    Collaborates with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized patient plan of care 
11    Provides a friendly, warm, and exceptional customer experience with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
12    Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential by abiding by all HIPAA rules and regulations
