Job Summary
The role of the AEMT is to provide pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for the sick and injured. The AEMT is responsible to maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service at all times.  Appropriate care is determined by the policies and procedures of Williamson Medical Center, in accordance with State regulations and accepted standards of care. 

Position Requirements
Formal Education / Training:
Tennessee Licensed AEMT
Valid Tennessee driver’s license with “F” Endorsement; must be insurable
    
Workplace Experience:
Minimum of one year emergency pre-hospital experience preferred.
   
Equipment and Skills Training:
Employees are required to complete annual education and in-service training for all types of medical, traumatic and behavioral emergencies and equipment used in assessment, treatment and transportation of patients.

Physical Environment:
Potentially high-risk environment. Duties are performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, disaster and mass casualty incidents. Patients may present with any of an unlimited number of disease, illness, injuries, personalities and emotional states.  Environment includes operations of, and performing work functions within emergency vehicles, including ambulances.  Prolonged exposure to temperature extremes may also be encountered.

Physical Effort:
Must be able to utilize devices for patient movement, including all functions of ambulance stretcher, with 250-pound weight, with partner.  Must be able to walk, crawl, stand, sit, climb, stoop, run and kneel to access patients.  Must be able to carry patients and equipment over varying distances, terrain and up or down stairs.  Must be able to carry the EKG monitor and jump bag unassisted.
